How Does Car Lease Delivery Work?

A Guide to Lease Delivery Times and Process

Thinking about leasing a new car? You’re probably wondering how long it’ll take to get your shiny new motor and what the whole process involves.

Good news – I’m here to walk you through it, step by step, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when you lease through an independent leasing broker like us here at Motorlet.

How Long Does It Take to Get Your Lease Car?

If you’re anything like me, you probably want your car yesterday – but in the world of car leasing, delivery times can vary quite a bit. It all comes down to the type of car you’re going for and where it’s coming from.

1. Factory Orders – Built Just for You

Ordering a car straight from the factory? It’s the longest wait, but it gives you the ultimate flexibility – you can customise the car exactly how you want.

  • Delivery time? It depends on the car. Some are built and delivered within a couple of months, while others (especially high-demand or luxury models) can take over a year.

  • Got a specific date in mind? Let us know, and we’ll explore options to meet your timeline.

Heads up: Delays can happen – global supply chain issues, production halts, or even weather can slow things down. The good news? When you use a broker like us, we’re not tied to one brand or supplier. If your order is delayed, we can often help find something else that’s ready sooner.

2. In-Stock Cars – Ready to Go

If waiting months isn’t your thing, there are plenty of in-stock lease deals available. These are cars that are already built and ready to hit the road.

  • Some cars can be delivered in as little as a few days, making them a perfect option if you’re in a rush.

  • You won’t get the same level of customisation, but you’ll still drive away with a brand-new car.

The Lease Process – How It Works from Start to Finish

Once you’ve found the perfect lease deal, here’s how the process flows:

1. Place Your Order

  • Order online through our website.

  • Fill in a few personal details – simple stuff like your address, contact info, and driving licence.

  • We’ll run a credit check (it’s standard for leasing) and, once approved, we’ll place the order with the supplier and charge our broker fee.

2. Sign Your Lease Agreement

  • We’ll send you the official lease agreement – this is the contract between you and the finance company.

  • Give it a read, sign it electronically, and you’re good to go.

3. Delivery Time!

  • Once your car is ready (whether it’s in stock or a factory order), we’ll arrange a convenient delivery date.

  • Delivery is free to any UK mainland address, so your new car will arrive straight to your door.

4. Payment Schedule

  • 10-14 days after delivery, your initial payment will be taken via Direct Debit.

  • Your monthly rentals will start about a month after delivery.

During Your Lease – What to Expect

We’re not just here to help you get the car – we’re with you throughout the lease too.

1. Ongoing Support

  • Need to tweak your mileage allowance? Got questions about servicing? We’re just a call or email away.

  • About 12 months before your lease ends, we’ll get in touch to help arrange your next one (if you fancy a new set of wheels).

2. Servicing and Maintenance

  • You’re responsible for keeping the car in good shape, following the manufacturer’s servicing schedule.

  • Not sure when the next service is due? Most modern cars will tell you on the dashboard. If not, give us or your local dealer a call.

  • Maintenance packages are also available, covering things like servicing, tyres, brakes, and even breakdown cover. It’s a great way to spread the cost and avoid unexpected bills.

3. Repairs and Damage

  • Got a scratch or dent? Most repairs can be done at a VAT-registered garage using genuine parts.

  • Not sure if you should get damage repaired before handing the car back? Send us some photos, and we’ll advise.

  • Don’t panic about end-of-lease damage charges – they’re usually not as scary as you might’ve heard!

End of Your Lease – What Happens Next?

As your lease comes to an end, here’s what you can expect:

  • Around 2 weeks before your end date, the lease company will contact you to arrange collection.

  • The car will be inspected for any damage outside of fair wear and tear – having Smart Protection can help cover minor scuffs and scratches.

  • You’ll hand the car back, and that’s it! Unless, of course, you want to jump into another shiny new lease (we can help with that too).

Warranties and Cover

  • All new lease cars come with a manufacturer’s warranty, usually lasting at least 3 years (some go up to 7 years).

  • This covers you for mechanical faults, so if anything goes wrong, just book it in with your local dealer.

  • Remember, the warranty doesn’t cover wear and tear – that’s where a maintenance package comes in handy.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully, that clears things up about lease delivery times and how the leasing process works. Whether you’re after a custom factory order or a car that’s ready to go, we’re here to help you find the perfect deal.
