Maintenance Packages for Lease Vehicles
Is it worth including one on your lease or paying for it yourself?

Like owning a car, it is up to you to keep it well-maintained, and leasing is no different.
Including a maintenance package with your lease will ensure your lease car is not only maintained correctly but also maintained well. Maintenance packages are a fixed cost so you know exactly how much you're going to spend during your lease term. This cover is an addition to the full manufacturer's warranty and breakdown that comes as standard with all brand new vehicles.
In this guide, we'll explore the benefits of maintenance packages for lease vehicles, the types of packages and services typically included, and how to determine if a maintenance package is right for you.
What is a maintenance package?
Maintenance is an optional monthly package that covers routing servicing, tyres and other repair costs. By including maintenance in your monthly lease payments, you completely fix the cost of motoring, making sure no unexpected costs come up.
There are multiple maintenance packages available, like a serving-only package or a maintenance package excluding tyres, so we will always be able to provide a package that fits your agreement. We'll even work out if it's cheaper to go for a maintenance package or just pay for it all yourself.

What is covered with a maintenance package?
All routine servicing and parts (if required)
Brake pads and discs
Bulbs, exhausts, and wiper blades
UK breakdown assistance
Accident management
MOT cost (if required)
Replacement tyres (including punctures)
24-hour helpline
What is excluded from a maintenance package?
Sidewall damage to tyres
Punctures to the tyre shoulder
Misfiling or damage caused by driver error
Fluid top-ups between services
Missing or damaged items

Tyre & Puncture Cover
Tyres are expensive and if you choose to include them in your maintenance package, you'll benefit from not needing to worry about how much they are.
As and when your tyre tread depth gets down to 2mm or less, you can book to have them replaced with a like-for-like premium brand. Plus, if you've chosen to include punctures, you can call someone out to repair any you may get - this is only valid for repairable punctures.
Sidewall damage is excluded from this, so try not to kerb your wheels too often. Winter tyres are also not included, so you'll need to pay for them yourself if you want them.
You can request our Tyre Replacement and Puncture Policy by getting in touch here.

What is accident management?
Accident management is included for both fault and non-fault claims, 24/7.
Just call your driver line and they'll handle the rest, such as:
They'll inform your insurance company and help settle claims
Book for your car to be repaired by an approved garage
Arrange a courtesy car for you to use during those repairs
They'll even provide advice and legal assistance if you're not at fault
Of course, this is optional and there for you to use should you want to.
What breakdown cover is included with a maintenance package?
The breakdown cover included covers you anywhere in the UK and at home.
If your vehicle breaks down, simply give your 24-hour driver line a call and a reputable company like the AA will attend.
Your manufacturer's breakdown assistance is utilised whilst your vehicle is under warranty, and then we use our AA cover in the event of a mechanical breakdown except for a few exclusions like battery-related issues and sidewall damage to tyres.

Is a maintenance package cheaper or more expensive?
Consider the following factors when deciding whether to opt for a maintenance package or just pay for it as you go:
Your driving habits and mileage
The manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule
The cost of individual maintenance services compared to the package price
The convenience and peace of mind offered by the package
For example, if you're leasing a premium brand of vehicle, it might cost more to service that vehicle. The same goes for tyres, as they need to be replaced with a like-for-like brand, which might be quite expensive.
However, if you are only planning on driving 5,000 miles a year, it might be cheaper to risk it and pay for any servicing as you go.
